SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Serengeti national park is the largest park in northern Tanzania, covering an area of 14,763km2.The Park is named after the endless plain by Maasai people. Serengeti is the oldest park in Tanzania and declared a national park in 1951 and one of the famous wildlife sanctuaries in the world. Its habitation includes short and long grass in south, wet savannah in central area and hilly – densely in the northern part, extensive woodland in west.  One of the famous breathtaking events in the animal kingdom, the migration of wildebeest takes place every year from December- june thus make it become the seven worldwide wonders. When some six million hooves pound the open plain, as more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle join the wildebeest trek for fresh grazing. Golden-maned lion prides feast on the abundance of plain grazers. Solitary leopards haunt the acacia tree lining the Seronera River, while a high density of cheetahs prowls the southeastern plains. The route and timing of the wildebeest migration is unpredictable, at least ask at three days before to be assured. You can also visit the neighboring Lake Victoria, Olduvai Gorge, ol donyo lengai, Lake Natron’s flamingo and Maasai rock painting. The park can be visited throughout   the year.
