Tarangire lies to the south of large open grassland plains of southern Maasai land, covering an area of 2600km2 and 15km2 from arusha town via Dodoma- arusha highway. The park is commonly famous for tree climbing python, zebras, hartebeest, elephants, buffalo, waterbuck, and gazelles and abundant of wildlife. The swamp, tinged green year around is the focus for 550 bird’s variety thus makes it the most breeding species in one habitat anywhere in the world. Termite mound are often frequent by colonies of the endearing dwarf mangoose, and pair of red-and yellow barbet, which draw attention to themselves by their loud, clockwork-like dueting. During the rainy season, seasonal visitors scatter over a 20,000km2 range until they exhaust the green plain and the river calls once more. But elephants are easily encountered during dry or wet season. Best time to visit is during dry season june-September for sheer numbers of animal. Walking safaris, day trip to Maasai and barbaig villages as well as to hundreds of ancient rock painting in the vicinity of kolo on the Dodoma road is possible. The park is easily reachable by road or charter flights
