Udzungwa Mountain is part of a broken chain of mountains known as “the eastern arch mountain that lies close to the coast of east Africa from southern Kenya to southern Tanzania. The park is not a conventional game viewing destination but a magnet for hikers. The half day walking safari to sanje waterfalls which stands at 550 feet (170 meters) through a misty spray into the forest valley is the popular activity. Ornithologists are attracted to Udzungwa Mountain and more than 400 species of birds are found. Four birds are peculiar to Udzungwa including a forest partridge which was discovered in 1911, and the six primate species recorded in the park, iringa red colobus & sanje mangabey both occur nowhere else in the world. The mountain range from 250- 2,576 meters with an outstanding habitation including the tropical forest, Mountain forest, Miombo woodland, Grassland and some steep parts. The park can be visited throughout the year.
